According to government reports, 633 Indian students have tragically passed away while studying abroad in the last 5 years, with the highest number of deaths (172) occurring in Canada. Among these fatalities, 19 students lost their lives due to violent attacks.
Currently, there are over 13 lakh Indian students pursuing education overseas, with the largest contingent (over 4 lakh) studying in Canada, followed closely by the United States.
In light of the challenges faced by Indian students seeking opportunities abroad, there is a growing need for the Indian government to improve the education system and job prospects within the country. Corruption has been a significant issue in India over the past decade, particularly in states like Punjab, Bihar, Haryana, and Delhi. Many individuals feel compelled to pay hefty sums to secure government jobs, regardless of the ethical implications.
It is crucial for politicians to prioritize the interests of the common people and focus on creating sustainable job opportunities and fostering economic growth. The prevalence of under-the-table dealings and kickbacks in various sectors, such as licensing and government contracts, only serves to perpetuate corruption.
Furthermore, it is concerning to note that many politicians in India have vested interests in businesses ranging from gas stations to five-star hotels, often holding significant stakes in government contracts. This complex web of political and economic entanglements underscores the need for greater transparency and accountability in governance.
