Maryam celebrated Diwali alongside members of the Hindu and Sikh communities

Recently, Maryam celebrated Diwali alongside members of the Hindu and Sikh communities, which has sparked discussions about her dedication to interfaith harmony. Critics have accused her of politicizing the situation, suggesting that her actions may be perceived as insincere due to her alleged indifference towards her own Muslim constituency.
In a move aimed at supporting the minority population, Punjab’s Chief Minister announced a distribution of Rs 15,000 to approximately 1,400 families from minority groups, describing it as a small token of recognition and appreciation for their contributions to society.
Furthermore, at a recent gathering, Maryam unveiled plans to implement a ‘Minority Card’ designed to provide financial assistance of Rs 10,500 to underprivileged families within the province. This initiative is set to launch on December 20, targeting an initial distribution to at least 50,000 individuals. Maryam emphasized that, in the coming fiscal year, there will be an expansion not only in the number of beneficiaries but also in the level of financial support provided through these cards.
As the nation grapples with the complexities of minority rights and social justice, Maryam Nawaz’s initiatives could play a pivotal role in addressing the needs of vulnerable communities in Pakistan.
