Kashmiri social worker Mehak Nabi has been awarded the National Youth Excellence Award 2025 by Live for Others, Being Helpful Foundation for her exceptional contributions to social work and community welfare. The award ceremony took place in Jammu on Wednesday.
Over the last four years, Mehak has worked extensively in the fields of education, women empowerment, environmental conservation, and drug de-addiction awareness, with a strong focus on promoting education among the tribal Gujjar and Bakarwal communities.
Hailing from Baramulla district, Mehak completed her schooling locally before earning a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kashmir. Since then, she has dedicated herself to uplifting marginalized communities and addressing critical social challenges in the region.
She is among three awardees from Kashmir this year, alongside Tariq Ahmad Shira and Tahira Tabassum, making the recognition especially meaningful for the valley.
Commending her work, representatives of the Foundation said, “Young leaders like Mehak Nabi embody the hope and change our society needs. Her commitment towards grassroots education and empowerment is truly commendable.”
The honour marks a significant milestone in her journey, inspiring young people across Jammu and Kashmir to actively contribute towards community development and nation-building.
