Srinagar, 29 January: MLA Gurez, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, strongly condemned the brutal attack on a Kashmiri youth in Uttarakhand. He said the youth was targeted only because of his identity.
Mr. Gurezi said the incident is not only inhuman but also an attack on the Indian Constitution, rule of law, and national unity. He expressed concern that if such an incident had happened in Kashmir with a non-local person, the whole region would have been blamed. However, he said, a hardworking Kashmiri youth was attacked while trying to earn his livelihood.
The MLA demanded that the BJP-led Uttarakhand government take immediate and strict legal action against those involved and ensure full protection and justice for the victim.
He also warned that politics based on hatred and division is dangerous for the country and harms social harmony. He said the government must ensure the safety of every citizen without discrimination on the basis of religion, language, or region.
