Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday criticised the Union Budget, saying it has once again failed to live up to the expectations of Punjab. He said the budget does not include any concrete announcement on Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers and also lacks serious measures for creating employment opportunities for youth.
The Chief Minister further pointed out that no major relief has been provided to industry or taxpayers, and no solid steps have been taken to strengthen Punjab’s economy. He alleged that, like previous years, Punjab and Punjabis have once again been subjected to step-motherly treatment in the budget.
CM Mann, however, said the people of Punjab are hardworking and full of spirit, and added that the state will rise again through collective efforts. “We will together make Punjab stand strongly on its feet once again,” he said.
