Bandipora, 02 ferbury 2026: Residents of Achoora in Gurez on Monday staged a protest against the ongoing power crisis in the area, expressing strong resentment against the District Administration and the Power Development Department (PDD) Bandipora. The protesters raised slogans and demanded immediate intervention to restore normal electricity supply.

Locals said that for the past ten days, the area has been receiving only five to six hours of electricity, and that too without any fixed schedule. “There is no certainty about when power comes and when it goes,” they said, adding that the irregular supply has made daily life extremely difficult.

The protesters questioned whether they were being treated unfairly due to the absence of electricity meters in some households. “We have been asking the department to install meters, but if the department has not installed them yet, how is it our fault?” they said.

Residents further stated that they pay their electricity bills regularly every month, yet they are not being provided electricity on time. They also highlighted the presence of critically ill patients in the village who require oxygen support, warning that prolonged power outages could put lives at risk. “If something happens to a patient due to lack of electricity, who will be responsible?” they asked.

The residents appealed to the concerned department to resolve the issue immediately and ensure uninterrupted power supply to the area at the earliest.
