Ladakh, February 4: Marking World Cancer Day, the Indian Army’s Fire & Fury Corps conducted a series of cancer awareness lectures and medical camps across multiple locations in Ladakh, including Kiari, Hanle, Dras, and Nimu.
The outreach programme, led by medical experts, focused on spreading awareness about cancer prevention, early symptoms, and the importance of timely screening and early detection. The initiative aimed to encourage healthier lifestyles and promote early medical consultation to reduce cancer-related risks in remote communities.
According to officials, over 400 community members benefitted from the camps, including a significant number of Ex-Servicemen and local residents. Participants received health guidance, basic medical check-ups, and awareness material as part of the campaign.
The Indian Army stated that the initiative reflects its continued commitment to community welfare and public health, while also strengthening the civil–military bond in the region. The Army added that alongside such humanitarian efforts, it remains fully operational and mission-ready.
