Gurez, Feb 12: The Gurez Snow Cricket Premier League (GSCPL) 2026, organised by the Indian Army’s 16 Assam, on Wednesday hosted a thrilling Girls Exhibition Match showcasing remarkable young talent from the valley. The contest featured Habba Khatoon Cricket Club and Dard Shina Club, drawing enthusiastic participation and strong community support.
Dard Shina Club won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a competitive target of 50 runs in 12 overs. In reply, Habba Khatoon Cricket Club displayed determined resistance but were bowled out for 48 runs in 11.1 overs, narrowly missing the chase by 2 runs.
In a tense finish, Dard Shina Club emerged victorious by 2 runs with five balls remaining.
Shafiqa delivered a standout bowling performance, claiming six wickets, and was declared Player of the Match for her exceptional contribution.
The event was attended by Judge Munsif Gurez, Ms. Mehak Mehboob, who lauded the players for their enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Cash prizes and medals were awarded to both the winners and runners-up, further encouraging the participation of girls in cricket and promoting sports culture in the region.
The exhibition match reflected the rising confidence, growing talent, and empowerment of young girls in Gurez, underscoring the role of sports in fostering resilience and inclusivity.
