New Delhi, India March 26: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday alleged that the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are engaged in a covert political understanding in Punjab, even as he asserted that the people of the state have made up their minds to bring the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to power.
Speaking to reporters after addressing a gathering at Gurdwara Sri Nanaksar Sahib in Ludhiana district, Saini claimed that despite presenting themselves as rivals, the Congress and AAP “support each other during elections,” indicating what he described as an “internal alliance.”
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a clear vision of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047, and added that Punjab will play a crucial role in achieving this target.
“The brave people of Punjab contributed immensely to India’s freedom struggle. Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working tirelessly to fulfil the vision our freedom fighters had for the country and the state,” the Chief Minister said.
Saini expressed concern over the state’s developmental trajectory, stating that Punjab — once a leading state in growth indicators — has suffered due to “political practices that pushed the youth into the trap of drugs and slowed down progress.”
According to him, voters in Punjab have now recognised “the internal understanding between Congress and AAP” and are inclined to support the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and the policies of the BJP in the upcoming elections.
“Punjab will once again move ahead on the path of development under the leadership of Narendra Modi,” Saini asserted.
