Tel Aviv, Israel, March 26: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israel Defense Forces on Thursday confirmed the elimination of senior leadership of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, including its commander and the head of its intelligence division.
In a video statement posted on X, the Prime Minister said the ongoing campaign against Iran-aligned targets would continue with full force. “We continue to forcefully strike the targets of the Iranian terrorist regime,” he said.
Netanyahu underscored the strategic value of the latest operation, adding, “Last night, we eliminated the Commander of the IRGC Navy. This man had a great deal of blood on his hands; he was also the one who led the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.”
He further noted that the strike exemplified close coordination with the United States toward shared security objectives.
In a separate announcement, the IDF confirmed that its Air Force, acting on precise intelligence from Military Intelligence and the Navy’s Intelligence Branch, conducted an overnight operation in Bandar Abbas, killing Ali Reza Tangsiri, who had served as commander of the Revolutionary Guards’ Navy for the past eight years.
According to the military, Tangsiri played a central role in Iran’s regional maritime activities, “overseeing the regime’s maritime terror operations, coordinating between Iranian military forces in the Gulf, attacking oil tankers and merchant vessels, and directly threatening freedom of navigation and international trade.” He also “led the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and advanced actions that disrupted the global economy.”
Alongside Tangsiri, the IDF confirmed the killing of Hanam Rezaei, head of the IRGC Navy’s Intelligence Division. Rezaei was described as a “hub of maritime intelligence,” responsible for regional intelligence gathering and cooperation with multiple intelligence entities.
The IDF said the operation adds to a series of successful strikes targeting Iranian commanders, representing “another severe blow to the Revolutionary Guards’ command and control systems and to their ability to conduct terror activity in the maritime arena against regional countries.”
