“If Azad has sympathy for congress, he should return and work for making it strong on ground level”
Bandipora, Nov 24: Aiming to rebuild its strength from the grassroots, the Indian National Congress has intensified its Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan in Jammu & Kashmir, a campaign to reach every party worker and gather their suggestions for selecting new District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents.
Addressing the media, District Observer for Bandipora Shri Sitaram Lamba on Monday said that the move is crucial to revitalising its organisation and influence across the region.
Lamba noted that under the campaign a leader must be identified in each district who “works with the workers of Congress, understands the ideas of Congress and values democracy and the Constitution.”
Reacting to Ghulam Nabi Azad’s statement on BJP’s preparation for West Bengal polls the observer said that if he had sympathy with congress he should have come and joined the party and given his valuable suggestions to make the party strong.
He added that once such a leader is found “we should make that leader the head of the district so that he not only takes the workers forward, but also strengthens the Congress ideology.”
Lamba was accampnied party senior leaders including Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Shri Krishan Chander Baghat, Shri Ricky Dalotra and JKPCC District President Mushtaq Ahmad Tantry.
Pertinent to mention the Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge recently approved the appointment of 21 observers in Jammu & Kashmir, alongside 25 in Andhra Pradesh, 38 in Tamil Nadu and 12 in Himachal Pradesh, to oversee the selection of district chiefs under the campaign.
These observers are tasked with engaging at the grassroots, meeting party workers, collecting feedback and representing local views to the high command.
The Bandipora address served to encourage active participation from local activists. The observer reiterated that the selection process will be guided by ground-level engagement, merit, affinity with party ideology and ability to lead.
