Bandipora, Jan 24: National Girl Child Day was celebrated today at Child Care Institution (CCI) Palaash, Bandipora.The programme was organised by SANKALP-HEW, Mission Shakti, Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with CCI Palaash, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), DCPU, POIC, and Pareesha.The event witnessed active participation of officials, staff members, and children of CCI Palaash. The programme aimed to raise awareness about the rights, protection, education, and empowerment of the girl child and to sensitize children about the facilities and schemes available for their welfare.During the programme, Dr. Atiqullah, Protection Officer (PO), CCI Palaash, highlighted the importance of nurturing, protecting, and empowering girl children. Ms. Tabinda Member, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), emphasized child rights, legal safeguards, and the role of institutions in ensuring a safe and supportive environment for children.Ms. Sumaiya Muzafer, Gender Specialist, DHEW, spoke about gender equality, self-confidence, and opportunities available for girls under various government initiatives, while Ms. Najmu Saqib, Financial Literacy Specialist, DHEW, sensitized the participants about financial literacy, savings, and economic independence at an early age. The children of CCI Palaash also actively participated by sharing their thoughts and experiences, adding value to the programme.An interactive question-answer session was held wherein children raised queries regarding different welfare schemes, facilities, and support systems available to them. The session helped clarify doubts and encouraged children to seek guidance without hesitation.The programme concluded with a message reaffirming the commitment of the Social Welfare Department towards safeguarding the rights, dignity, and holistic development of every girl child.
