New Delhi, 1 ferbury 2026: Soon after the Union Budget 2026-27 was presented in Parliament, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the Modi government, calling the budget “blind to India’s real crises.”
Reacting to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s budget speech, Gandhi said the government has failed to address key challenges faced by ordinary citizens, especially rising unemployment, stress in agriculture, weak manufacturing growth, falling household savings and concerns over investment outflow. He alleged that instead of correcting the economic course, the budget “ignores the ground reality” and offers no strong roadmap to ease pressure on common people.
The Congress leadership echoed similar criticism. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge termed the budget “lacking policy vision” and claimed it does not provide practical solutions to major economic and social issues.
Meanwhile, the ruling BJP defended the budget, calling it a decisive step towards “Viksit Bharat” and highlighting its focus on infrastructure, long-term growth and fiscal stability. Industry bodies such as FICCI also welcomed the budget, describing it as balanced and growth-focused.
With the government projecting development and the Opposition raising concerns of public hardship, the budget has set the stage for a fresh political showdown in Parliament.
