Gurez, February 16: The sixth edition of the Gurez Snow Cricket Premier League (GSCPL) 2026 concluded with an exhilarating grand finale, further cementing Gurez’s emergence as a premier destination for winter sports. With 32 teams competing on the snow-clad fields of the valley, the tournament drew widespread admiration for its blend of sporting excellence, youth engagement, and community spirit.
Despite sub-zero temperatures, an impressive crowd of nearly 1,600 spectators — including men, women, and children gathered to witness the championship clash, reflecting the region’s deep-rooted passion for cricket even in the harshest winter conditions.
In the final showdown, Chorwan 11 delivered a commanding all-round performance to lift the coveted GSCPL 2026 title. Batting first, they posted a competitive total of 112 runs, setting a target of 113 for SMCC Markoot. The Markoot side struggled against disciplined and accurate bowling from Chorwan 11, eventually being bowled out for 55 runs in 13 overs. The dominant 58-run victory sealed Chorwan 11’s championship glory.
