New Delhi, India, March 24: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was elected unopposed as the national president of the Janata Dal (United) after no other nomination was filed for the post. The announcement was made in New Delhi by senior JD(U) leader Anil Hegde, who detailed the nomination, scrutiny and withdrawal process that concluded on Tuesday.
Hegde confirmed that with only one valid nomination submitted, Nitish Kumar was elected unanimously.
JD(U) working president Sanjay Jha said the party’s organisational journey dates back to the formation of the Samata Party, noting the role Nitish Kumar has played over three decades. He said the party’s long association with the National Democratic Alliance enabled governance initiatives that strengthened Bihar’s development trajectory.
Jha added that Nitish Kumar’s leadership restored confidence and identity among people from Bihar, describing his tenure as a defining phase in the state’s political and administrative progress.
